Zaragoza, Spain – February 2026 — At FIMA 2026, one of Europe’s leading agricultural trade fairs, CIRCE delivered a technical session dedicated to Advanced Agronomic Systems for Soil Management and Climate Adaptation, bringing together experts and stakeholders to discuss the future of sustainable agriculture.
Held on 12 February 2026 at the Congress Centre of Feria de Zaragoza, the session addressed key challenges facing the agricultural sector, focusing on how innovation and technology can support both soil health and climate resilience.

Focus on soil management and sustainability
Titled “Advanced Agronomic Systems for Soil Management and Climate Adaptation,” the session explored the role of soil as a cornerstone of sustainable agricultural systems. Speakers highlighted the importance of improving soil management practices in response to environmental pressures and evolving regulatory frameworks.
Presentations covered a range of innovative approaches, including:
- Advanced soil analysis and agronomic diagnostics
- Precision agriculture tools for data-driven decision-making
- Sustainable fertilisation strategies aligned with regulatory developments
The discussions underscored how these practices can contribute to maintaining soil fertility while reducing environmental impacts.
From innovation to climate adaptation
The session was structured in two main parts. The first focused on advanced agronomic systems for soil management, offering an overview of current practices and emerging technologies. A roundtable discussion followed, where representatives from research and industry exchanged views on the main challenges and opportunities in the field.
The second part addressed tools and strategies for climate change adaptation. Speakers presented practical solutions such as irrigation optimisation and the use of digital technologies to support farmers in adapting to changing climatic conditions. A second roundtable enabled stakeholders to discuss implementation pathways and share experiences.

Contributing to the broader FIMA agenda
FIMA 2026, held from 10 to 14 February, once again served as a major platform for innovation in the agricultural sector, gathering professionals, researchers, and policymakers from across Europe and beyond.
Within this broader programme, CIRCE’s session contributed to ongoing discussions on sustainability, digitalisation, and resilience, highlighting the importance of integrated approaches to soil management and climate adaptation.
The event reinforced the need for collaboration across the agri-food sector to ensure long-term sustainability and to equip farmers with the tools and knowledge required to face future challenges.
