In June 2026 Water Research Institute organized excursion to Slovak University of Agriculture within the program of the Day 2 of the GEMS 5th Transnational Meeting in Slovakia, which took partners and stakeholders from the meeting room to the field, with a study visit focused on drinking water protection, groundwater monitoring, climate adaptation and sustainable nutrient management. Their second stop was the Environmental Centre “Climate–Landscape–Information” at the Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra. There, they saw rainfall event simulation devices, tools to study soil erosion processes, and a fluvial flow simulator — all of them helping to better understand how to manage the groundwater systems.
While touring the centre, the visitors got the opportunity to have a look on the NenuPhar_EU project technology and learned about the project aims and the purpose of 3 demo sites. The visitors also had the opportunity to see the technology being developed within the Slovak demonstration site. This technology aims to recover nutrients from dairy wastewater.
