The annual European Sustainable Nutrients Initiative (ESNI) meeting took place this year in Brussels, bringing together partners from across Europe at the very heart of EU governance and decision-making. As a hub for European policy development, Brussels provided the ideal setting for researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and project representatives to come together and strengthen collaboration around one of Europe’s most pressing environmental challenges: nutrient pollution.
The event offered a valuable opportunity for participants to exchange knowledge, discuss policy developments, and explore how research and innovation can support the transition towards more sustainable nutrient management. By convening stakeholders from different sectors and countries, ESNI 2026 reinforced the importance of coordinated European action to improve nutrient use efficiency, reduce environmental impacts, and promote resilient food and agricultural systems.
As part of the programme, the NENUPHAR project hosted a dedicated workshop, providing a platform to showcase ongoing work and engage partners in discussion around practical solutions for sustainable nutrient management.
