27th ENVIRO International Scientific Conference – Nitra, Slovakia June 9-10, 2025

This conference, celebrating the 30th anniversary of FZKI SPU, offered an ideal platform to showcase NENUPHAR’s innovations in environmental quality and circular economy.

The ENVIRO conference has a strong 30-year tradition as a premier platform for addressing environmental quality improvement, ecological stability, natural resource management, and rural landscape enhancement. Its key topics—including water and soil management, climate change, waste management, circular economy, and the environmental interconnectivity of agricultural land use—directly align with NENUPHAR’s objectives, particularly activities within the Danube River demo site.

NENUPHAR Project Activities & Benefits:

Prominent Oral Presentations:

Prof. Ľuboš Jurík (SUA) delivered a presentation titled: “Possibilities for recycling nutrients from food industry wastewater for use in agriculture”. This detailed the outcomes and milestones of the nature-based technology for nutrient recovery from dairy wastewater developed within NENUPHAR. Crucially, participants were also informed about the NENUPHAR Community of Interest and invited to join.

Assoc. Prof. Balázs Ásványi (SZE, Hungary) followed with a presentation: “Nitrogen and phosphorus recovery using innovative technology in soft cheese production: Preliminary results from the NENUPHAR project”. He showcased preliminary results from the ozone treatment and ultrafiltration technology applied at the TEBIKE dairy company.

Poster Presentation for In-Depth Discussion:

In the “Current research and innovations in waste and circular economy” poster section, Marta Lenartowicz (SUA) presented SUA’s contribution: “Possibilities for recycling nutrients from food industry wastewater for use in agriculture” (authors: Jurík, Ľ., Lenartowicz, M., Aydin, E., Kaletová, T., Válek, A.). This provided an additional opportunity for focused discussions with interested delegates.

  1. Constant Visual Project Presence:

The NENUPHAR project maintained a continuous visual presence with a dedicated roll-up banner and leaflets prominently displayed in the lobby at the conference entrance which was also designated stand during breaks. This ensured broad visibility for the project’s aims and impacts.

Published Scientific Output:

Both oral contributions from SUA and SZE, presenting NENUPHAR technology and results from the Danube River Demo site (specifically outcomes of Tasks T3.4.3 and T3.4.4), have been included in the published abstract proceedings of the conference. This provides a lasting scientific record of NENUPHAR’s advancements.
